🚗 10am - Cars to be moved
All vehicles must be moved from Wantage Road to prepare for the festivities.
🧹 10:15am - Street clean-up and litter pick
Join your neighbours to help tidy and prep the space for a brilliant day ahead.
🎺 1pm - Live Music
The day kicks off with a performance from the Reading Spring Gardens Brass Band at 1pm, followed by toe-tapping folk, blues and Americana from Greg Mayston’s Folk, Blues and Americana band at the after party.
🍽️ 1-4pm - Big lunch
Let’s all eat together! Please bring a dish to share - sweet or savoury. Those with allergies should bring their own food just in case.
🎨 1-4pm - Kids’ activities
Face-painting, chalk art, nature crafts and more with Nature Nurture.
🎭 1940s - Fancy dress parade
Celebrate VE Day with style - come dressed in your best 1940's attire and join the fun.
🍰 4pm - Cake-baking competition
Submit your bake by 4pm - winners announced and celebrated!
🎟️ 4:30pm - Raffle
Amazing prizes donated by local businesses. Raffle tickets available on the day (cash only).
🧹 5:30pm - Street clean-up
Many hands make light work - please stay and help clear the road.
🍻 7:30pm - After party at The Spread Eagle
Live music from Greg Mayston’s Folk Blues & Americana band. Let’s keep the celebration going!
Street closure
Wantage Road will be closed to traffic between the Spread Eagle Pub to Number 53 from 9am to 9pm on Saturday 5th July.
If your house falls within this section, we ask if you could kindly move your car by 10am, for our street party preparations to get underway. If you do have specific reasons as to why moving your car won’t be possible, please get in touch via the Wantage Road Community Group on Facebook. Thank you for your cooperation!
Residents with valid street permits are able to park on any street in the 07R Zone.
